Having met Kildjate Moussa Albadé while he was touring with his band TisDass last year we were fascinated by his unique take on guitar-based Tuareg blues and we’re delighted to welcome him back to Berlin having made the long journey from his native Niger.
Moussa grew up roaming the Sahara alongside his fellow Tuaregs, with music taking on a great significance early in his life. Not unlike other musicians from Northern Mali and Niger, he plays what is often referred to as “desert blues”, for its shifting rhythms and blues-friendly scales.
He went on to play with the widely acclaimed Tuareg band Bombino, while also touring for two years with another band, scooping rhythms and styles from Southern Mississippi blues, reggae, rock and funk. The fruits of that fusion, merged with tender vocals and traditional desert blues in the hands of this captivating musician, is something not to be missed.
For this special evening Moussa will perform alongside fellow Tuareg guitarist Alhoussein Mohamed.
Following the show Spatzhabibi will play some dusty gems from their record collection.
